Care of Your Tapes and DVDs
Fast forward tapes to the end for long-term storage. Keep in dust-proof containers in a cool, dry place away from x-rays & magnetic fields. You can keep several of them in their original plastic cases in chronological order in a large rectangular Rubbermaid-type bin.
Store DVDs upright in sleeves with hubs made for DVDs. Do not store flat as they may warp over time. Keep out of sunlight. Store in a cool, dry, dark place. Do not use a Sharpie to label your DVD. Use a waterbase marker made for labeling CDs. You can find these in most office supply stores. The solvents in Sharpies may harm the information on your DVD or CD over time.
